Just saw this in the Courier online. Check out how our kids did in BRRSD... Both of my kids' grades/year did BELOW expectations on LAL and ABOVE in Math. Not exactly sure what that is compared to, but is anyone really surprised???
"I feel a blog coming on"
Hateful acts in 08807 make national news
Whenever anything interesting happens my girlfriend says to me, "I feel a blog coming on." And while I haven't seen her lately, I wonder if that's what she was thinking when she saw that once again Bridgewater made the news for its ability to spew hate.
Keep your stupid tip!
Diners in Bridgewater refused to leave a tip to a waitress because they assumed she was a lesbian. Even the foreign press knows about it. NIMBY is alive and well here!
It's one thing not to leave the tip - but the note? We don't tip gay people??? Did they think their note would make her re-think her hairstyle, and "lifestyle"?
Mosque update kept quiet
I understand that I haven't been at the forefront of Bridgewater politics this year, but I assume I would have heard about this ruling earlier. In 2011 Bridgewater made the New York Times when this first came up: see http://www.nytimes.com/2011/09…
I am NOT a fan of being asked for solicitations from my car (especially from too-perky sorority girls on an early Saturday morning), but recently I saw our firemen/women at work saving a house from certain destruction, and have a new respect for our all volunteer force! Let them solicit all the change they can on Black Friday!!!
Check your calendars and support our valiant Green Knoll fire squad in their quest to fundraise! Read here.
And, of course, I spread the word to help a certain fireman who holds a special place in my heart (don't get the wrong impression!!!!) because he is so patient with me as we schlep each others' kids to Tae Kwan Do year after year. I remember him on that May day. I remember his courage and afterward (to his wife's annoyance, I love her even more!), his pride when they saved the house and irreplaceable things like pictures.

Adrenalin is Bridgewater Soccer Mom's coffee this morning.
As my Facebook friends know, I spend a lot of energy racing for trains. This morning, as I was pushing 55 mph on the main thoroughfare between Route 22 and our street (I regularly run this road and complain about speeding drivers), I saw the cop and I knew...
He did a U-turn, and before he even put on his lights, I'd signaled and pulled over.
I rolled down my window and before he said anything I handed him my license and registration and blurted out that I'd been speeding. He finally got a word in.
"Are you driving to work?"
"I'm racing to catch the train."
He asked if it was the 6:20. I looked for the insurance card, saw the date was expired, then in my fog realized something, and picked up my phone and fumbled with it... "The insurance is now an app."
Before I could find and open it, he let me go. No warning. No lecture. He said he didn't want me to be late…
